Spring Sale

The weather is finally warming up (albeit in a teasingly sluggish way), so that means folks are starting to think about Watercolor painting and painting outdoors. We at Utrecht are getting ready by stocking up on paints, paper, brushes, and travel easels. Our Spring Sale features Winsor Newton Watercolor and Gouache Tubes at 30% off list price and Cotman and Utrecht WC Tubes at 35% off list price, with comparable savings on sets. Arches 140 lb WC paper is on sale for $4.29 per sheet, and Utrecht now has it’s own line of WC Blocks at great prices! Plein air easels are on sale too. The Jullian Full Box French Easel is $169.99 and the Half Box is $159.99.

Spring Cleaning

Well it’s April, so that means the snow has stopped…right? It’s amazing how much dirt and clutter can accumulate over the course of a few months of winter lock-in. So now that the weather is warming up we are airing out the store, digging into the corners, dusting, cleaning, and reorganizing, and I think you’ll be pleasantly amazed the next time you come in! In addition to cleaning the store, we are also clearing out some tired old merchandise and bringing in the new. We now have a great section of clearance merchandise that is marked down way low to blow out fast, making room for new cool stuff. We have marked down some paints that are ugly on the outside but still beautiful on the inside (no jokes about my high school yearbook picture), some photo frames with broken glass, and a bunch of other odds and ends. Think treasure hunt! Think garage sale! Think bargain basement (but without going downstairs)! See y’all soon.

UTRECHT SLC NOW ON LINE ! ! !

Hi Art Enthusiasts of Salt Lake.  Welcome to the new Utrecht Salt Lake City Blog!  Our aim is to be an online destination for creative people to find out about the goings-on in the local art community, share art tips & techniques, announce local art shows & events, and of course, since we sell art supplies, we’ll keep you informed about our latest sales, bargains, and new items in the store.

My name is Paul Rock and I just started as manager of the Salt Lake Utrecht store.  I actually worked here a while back but wandered away to Tempe Arizona in a quest to explore a desert existence.  After 3 years I figured out what they mean when they say “it’s a dry heat”.  Now I’m back and am just starting to settle in again.

For those who are unfamiliar with our store, we are located at 1025 E 2100 S inside the Peterson Art Center.  Utrecht SLC is a full service art supply store carrying products from hundreds of national brands.  Although most of our customers are professional artists, we also serve many students from area art schools and colleges, as well as plain folks who are just itching to get creative.

Utrecht prides itself on carrying top-quality, professional grade art products at the lowest prices possible.  Whether you’re a professional, student, or novice, our most excellent staff is here to help you bring your creative visions to life.

In addition to selling art supplies, all of the employees at Utrecht SLC are artists themselves, each with our own specialty.  I work in Watercolors and Acrylics, our Assistant Manager Paul Baird works in Acrylic and Oil, and the ever-amazing Emily Moroz creates masterpieces with Fibers and Textiles.  The rest of our staff has interests in drawing, printmaking, pottery, bookmaking, and airbrushing. We don’t just sell art supplies; we are active members of the local artist community.  Art is our passion, and we feel lucky to work in an environment where we get to encourage that same passion in others.

So drop by sometime if you’re looking for art supplies or need help with your next project.  We’d love to see you!
